Therapeutic Approach

My therapeutic stance stems primarily from Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT) originated and developed by Albert Ellis. REBT is a specific approach which falls under the Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy school of thought. I practice REBT as a problem-focused, solution-driven approach through which we can uncover how you may be unwittingly distressing yourself (emotionally, behaviourally, cognitively) by holding rigid and extreme attitudes about the adversities you may encounter in life. We can then collaboratively work toward having more flexible, non-extreme attitudes which are likely to lead to undisturbed, non-distressed and healthier emotions, more helpful thoughts and goal-directed behaviours. I may also integrate strategies from other approaches including and not limited to Behavioral, Cognitive, other Cognitive Behavioral, Solution Focused, Assertiveness training, Dialectical Behavioral, Reality Therapy and Eclectic approaches if required to assist you with your unique concerns. I believe that clients are capable in deciding best, their desired goals from our therapeutic alliance. I serve the role of a facilitator in employing therapies, chosen as a result of a detailed conceptualization and research evidence, in order to help them gain the goals and independence they desire. Overall, what you can expect from therapy along with greater self-awareness and insight is, a problem focused and solution driven approach to help you reach your goals.

You can also scroll down to the bottom of the page and take our quick Quiz to find out which one you’re more suited to.

1. Short-term but consistent therapy

  • What it consists of: The first session is usually a consultation where I understand the area of concern that brings you to therapy. As a part of the process, we build a therapeutic relationship, rapport and trust, mutually formulate goals and then work towards them through scientifically based and empirically supported theoretical frameworks, strategies and practices.
  • How long does it last: On average, therapy with me is relatively short-term and lasts approximately 8-12 sessions, but may vary individually and can be jointly decided by the therapist and client as per the client’s unique concerns.
  • Cost:
Short-term Therapy: Costing Table For clients residing in India For clients residing outside India: The equivalent of the below prices can be payed in any currency.
Online Session (45 minutes) Rs. 1,800/-
Rs. 2,800/-
In-Clinic Session (45 minutes) Rs. 2,100/-
Rs. 3,100/-

At the end of the day, you truly are the expert of your life, and can ultimately decide how long or short you wish to engage in this endeavor with me.

2. Single-Session Therapy

(One At A Time Therapy or Intermittent Therapy across the lifespan)

What it is NOT: Single Session Therapy is NOT strictly restricted to one session. It does not mean that you can’t return if you require further assistance.

What it IS: Single Session Therapy is a mindset, in which the client and therapist jointly commit to providing the desired help to a client in a single session, on an elected problem in a focused manner.

Why this mindset?: Research has shown that the length of Therapy expands in accordance with the expectation set. Clients can therefore be helped in one session if they expect to be helped in a single session.

Realistic expectations: It is extremely important to understand that this process includes no magic! Therefore, an expectation to “cure” “all” of the client’s concerns in a single session would be unrealistic!

What we can do, is to work on a solution to an elected problem, which the client can then apply outside the session, to get to their desired goal.

The Single Session Therapy Package includes:

  • 1 pre-session phone call- 15 minutes (To help you and the therapist prepare, so you get the best out of the main session)
  • 1 ‘Single’ session- 45 minutes (either in-clinic or video call)
  • 1 post-session follow-up phone call- 15 minutes (To check how you are doing in regards to the problem and solution worked on in the session).
  • Cost:
Single Session: Costing Table For clients residing in India For clients residing outside India: The equivalent of the below prices can be payed in any currency.
Online Session Rs. 2,100/-
Rs. 3,100/-
In-Clinic Session Rs. 2,400/-
Rs. 3,400/-

Further help is available if and when required. You can continue to have more single sessions at different points in time or choose to transition to consistent therapy if required.

If you think about it, this mindset is the one you have when you visit your doctor. You visit them when you are unwell when you have a solution, you stop going, and you go back when you require their assistance again.

The only difference here, with Single Session Therapy, is that you are an active participant who will be highly engaged during the session, and responsible for the progress.
